- The castle was belonged to Ministerial family called Maienfels (branch of Lords of Neudeck)
- The lords of Maienfels were in the service of Hohenhole who were a princely dynasty
- The lords of Maienfels were also maintaining a close relationship with the Hohenstaufen dynasty who were Holy Romen Emperros from 12th century to 13th century.
- Later the castle became a "Ganerbschaft" (shared property of family)
- Castle was sieged by nearby imperial cities lead by the neighbouring city Schwäbisch Hall
